Housing Management News: A few Friendly Reminders

Rent - All payments (mailed or dropped off) MUST be received by FMHA no later than the 5th working day of each month, in order to avoid a $10.00 late fee.

Late Payments - Per your lease, rent is due on the 1st of the month. You are only allowed 3 late payments within a 12-month period. Please remember that if you are late more than three times, you could face eviction. For more information, feel free to contact your housing manager.

Home Security - In order to have any cameras, camera doorbells or any surveillance security in or around your unit, you MUST get preapproval from FMHA.

Visitors - Remember that any overnight guest MUST have PRIOR-APPROVAL before being allowed to stay. Welcoming an unauthorized guest violates your lease and this could result in a possible termination.

Warmer Weather Approaching
Key Takeaways:

  • Make use of window coverings and fans to keep your temperature down
  • Be smart about how you cook and clean in the summer to avoid excess heat

Sometimes, coming inside isn't always enough to get actual relief from the summer heat. Houses and apartments often trap heat really well. Heat rises, so apartment dwellers on the top floor of a building can become extra hot! It's up to you to find ways to cool down a room when the summer sun has warmed up too much.

Usually, the hottest part of the day is mid-afternoon around 3 PM. Even though the sun is no longer at its midday peak, the Earth is expelling the heat that it initially soaked up.

Use portable fans - It's not rocket science that a simple portable fan will make your room cooler. Whether running on batteries or electricity, even one fan blowing its cool air directly on you is a great way to beat the heat.

Additional tips for keeping your body cool in the summer heat:

  • Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing
  • Take a cold shower using only cool water
  • Place a cold, wet washcloth on your neck or wrists
  • Drink something ice-cold to stay hydrated

Tamiko Hill - Headshot.

From Public Housing Resident to Proud Homeowner: Tamiko's Inspiring Journey

Tamiko, once a resident of public housing, has transformed her life through dedication, hard work, and the power of oppo1tunity. After enrolling in the Fayetteville Metropolitan Housing Authority's Job Skills Pre-Apprenticeship Program in Property Maintenance, she immersed herself in hands-on training in plumbing, electrical systems, and general maintenance. Her performance in the program was exceptional, and it wasn't long before she was hired as a Maintenance Mechanic Assistant with the Fayetteville Metropolitan Housing Authority. Now, Tamiko helps maintain and improve the same communities she once lived in- this time, as a skilled professional and valued team member.

But her success didn't stop there!

With stable employment and a new sense of financial independence, Tamiko achieved another major milestone- she purchased her first home!

Tamiko's story is a powerful reminder of what happens when workforce development, community support, and personal drive come together.

She is now working toward a better future.

CONGRATULATIONS TAMIKO!!!
