The Lease:
The lease is a legal contract between the applicant and the Housing Authority. It defines the responsibilities of the Housing Authority and the resident. Prior to taking possession of the dwelling unit the lease must be signed by the applicant and the authority. Any violation of the lease could be cause for the cancellation of the lease and the termination of residency. The terms of the lease will be explained to you prior to moving into the unit.

Rent:
The amount of rent to be paid is determined by a formula prescribed by federal law. The Housing Authority does not have the authority to deviate from that mandated formula. Generally speaking, the family will pay 10 percent of the total family income or 30 percent of the adjusted total family income, whichever is greater. There are certain exclusions from income that will be explained at the time of lease signing.
