Big News for FMHA: $25.1 Million Choice Neighborhoods Grant Awarded

We are proud to share that the Fayetteville Metropolitan Housing Authority (FMHA), in partnership with the City of Fayetteville, has been awarded a $25.1 million Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

This transformative investment will help turn the Murchison Choice Neighborhood vision into reality by bringing new mixed-income housing, creating greater opportunities for residents, and supporting ongoing revitalization efforts throughout the Murchison Road corridor. The grant represents a major milestone in FMHA's commitment to providing quality housing, strengthening neighborhoods, and creating pathways to opportunity for the families we serve.

"This is a proud day for FMHA and for the entire Murchison Road community," said Dawn Weeks, Executive Director of FMHA. "Receiving this grant is the result of years of planning, collaboration, and commitment from residents, community partners, and local leaders who believed in this vision. We are excited to move from planning to action and begin bringing this vision to life together."

This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication and collaboration of many partners. We extend our sincere thanks to Mayor Mitch Colvin, the Fayetteville City Council, City leadership and staff, Congressman David Rouzer, Senator Thom Tillis, Senator Ted Budd, Congressman Richard Hudson, and the entire Murchison Choice Neighborhood team, including Pennrose, Urban Strategies, Inc., Community Development Strategies, Steele Group, and the many organizations and community partners who have supported this effort along the way.

We also want to recognize FMHA's Board of Commissioners for their leadership and guidance, as well as our staff whose hard work and commitment continue to move our mission forward every day.

Most importantly, we thank the residents of Murchison Townhouses, Elliott Circle, and the broader Murchison Road community. Your voices, ideas, and vision for the future helped shape this plan from the very beginning, and your partnership remains at the heart of this work.

The planning phase laid the groundwork. Now, we are ready to take the next step and begin turning years of collaboration and community input into meaningful results for residents and families.
