Housing Manager

Now hiring an experienced Housing Manager.

Qualified applicants should have previous experience in Housing Management. Employee will be responsible for assisting the Department in performing management and operation of an assigned number of public housing and/or LIHTC housing developments.

Duties include, but are not limited to: Assist in accurately computing tenant rents for incoming and continued occupancy and vacated units, analyze tenant accounts, accept rental payments, make deposits, etc.; conduct unit Inspections; counsel tenants on lease violations, policies, and procedures, as needed; provide orientation for new residents and assist in move-ins and move-outs and transfers; prepare Court papers and represent FMHA in court cases involving lease enforcement and eviction matters; prepare or assist in the preparation of reports relating to the assigned development.

Qualifications and Knowledge required: Associates Degree in Business, Public Administration, or Social Sciences from an accredited College or University. Two years of practical work experience in Housing Management. One year of progressively responsible experience as a Management Aide, experience working in an administrative capacity at a housing development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Public Housing Management Certification is required or must be obtained within twenty-four (24) months of the hire date.
Extensive knowledge of Housing Authority operating procedures and policies; principles, practices, and techniques of public housing management, HUD regulations pertaining to low-rent housing; basic arithmetic, and knowledge of services available through local social service agencies, knowledge of NC LIHTC qualifications and compliance.

Must have excellent public relations skills and have the ability to meet with the public; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and persons outside the Authority; plan and organize meetings and other activities, and deal effectively with situations requiring tact and diplomacy, yet firmness.

Ability to read, write and communicate with confidence, patience, and concern; prepare clear and concise narrative and statistical reports. Ability to meet deadlines and within budgets. Ability to make independent decisions, adhere to the policies, set priorities, and work with little or no supervision.

Some knowledge of modern principles, practices, and techniques of budgeting and bookkeeping. Skill in the use of basic office machines, such as computers, typewriters, calculators, scanners, fax, and photocopy machine.

Starting salary is $38,875.00 annually.
